Osaka Sun

You see the cormorants in the distance

They’re croaking things we cannot apprehend

I slowly learn to let things go their way

As long as I can hold your hand

We’ve crossed a foreign country alone

We left our footsteps in the sand

We’ve found answers for the things we don’t know

Yet the two of us have lost a friend

When the sun is going down

You come closer to me

I wish that I could be your shield

But I’m a rootless tree

I blossom day by day

In the warm Osaka sun

Then from one day to the next

I feel I’ve come undone

The warm breeze on the sandy shore

Wafts a smile upon my face

I look up to a cerulean sky

With a zero chance of rain

I look up to you

Still you don’t look down on me

We’re watching how the sun is

Coalescing with the sea

When the sun is going down

You come closer to me

I wish that I could be your shield

But I’m a rootless tree

I blossom day by day

In the warm Osaka sun

Then from one day to the next

I feel I’ve come undone
