I just want to stop thinking about it,
It’s four in the morning, I’m feeling exhausted
The Tv’s still flickering and I find myself sinking in the chair like a fool
So here we are walking down the same road
Where the summers are cruel and covered with snow
We never learn, it’s like we never heard what history teachers told us in school
But if they think that their hate and the despicable things that they say
Could divide us, well then they’re just mistaken
Can’t you see that all this hate never was and never will be our natural state
And you can keep building up walls for the rest of your life
But we’ll make them crumble every damn time
So open your heart and lower your voice, it’s only the hate that requires the noise
Love spreads itself, warm and nonviolently, love in its beauty is floating effortlessly
To be completely honest here: I’m scared. Just like almost everybody else, I guess.
I’m scared that this surge of hateful noise will gain the upper hand.
I’m scared that this sad, unpredictable excuse of a man in the white house will snap one day, throwing us all into irreversible turmoil.
I’m scared that one day, when I leave this world, I leave it in a worse condition than it was in when I was born.
But because of hope, I won’t hang my head.
Because I know that the vast majority, at least in my country, does not stand behind these hate mongers. It’s the opposite, actually.
It’s just difficult to deal with this situation.
But I’m most confident that we will get through it.
And when we do, we will prove once more, that even the most subtle kind of love is stronger than any kind of hate will ever be.
Oh I know that there is hope, we’ve just got to stay open for the unknown
I know there’s so much that can’t be done, but I know there’s hope, hope for everyone
